Mosquitos... So far we have been fortunate the monsoons haven't really hit us yet but the potential is still there. Heavy rain is the impetus for these little vampires to reproduce and feed on us. Most of the time it is just an irritation, itching and swelling of the bite location. In rare cases they can spread disease. The most prevalent one here in Arizona is the West Nile Virus (Culex Mosquitoes) which in mild cases can be treated but in severe cases can be fatal.

We as Pest Professionals when servicing a home for insects keep our eyes open for conducive conditions that can aid in the reproduction of these nasty little blood suckers. We look for green pools, malfunctioning fountains that are stagnant as well as leaking irrigation boxes, potted plants that aren't draining properly just to name a few. However, it is important that the home owner remain vigilant by walking their property and inspecting their surroundings; especially after a heavy rain to make sure these conditions don't exist and subsequently aid in their reproduction.

It needs to be brought to the Home Owners Associations attention if these conditions are found in your neighborhood so that they can take action to remedy the situation. We at Soto's Pest & Termite Control are here to make sure you and your loved ones are safe.
